Nangate Releases a New Version of the 45nm Open Cell Library

Si2 members and Nangate registered users benefits from a new version of the successful 45nm Open Cell library. The library has become a standard for university research programs and organizations, with more than 1,300 downloads

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Jul 23, 2009

-- Nangate, the leading provider of tools and IP for design-specific digital cell library development, has just released the fourth version of its open source 45nm standard-cell library. The new release of the library has been updated upon feedback of its more than 1,300 users worldwide. Along with the library, Nangate releases a freely distributed tool for creating HTML databooks from Liberty files, the Nangate Liberty Viewer™.

"The 45nm Nangate Open Cell Library has been a great success. This release accomplishes enhancement requests for the library to be used in a wider range of design flows," said Jens Michelsen, Vice President of Professional Services at Nangate. "Our main business is the concurrent optimization of design and cell libraries. The non-manufacturing 45nm Open Cell library donation to Si2 allows its members and the entire community to experiment flow development, circuit design and new algorithms using a Nangate library with all required views. And the Liberty Viewer should help these groups with the demanding task of analyzing long and dense Liberty files".

"The Nangate OpenCell libraries are being run in the EinsTimer™ timing tool as part of our activities with Si2, and we have experienced no technical problems to date" says Leon Stok, director of EDA at IBM. "These libraries provide a powerful basis for investigating timing techniques as part of our ongoing standards development activities."

“Si2 is delighted to be working with Nangate on the continued evolution of the Open45nm Nangate library. Through the leadership and library contributions by Nangate and excellent cooperation from North Carolina State University, this donation has filled the need for an advanced library to support research and evaluation of concepts and ideas in EDA, as proven by download statistics we have monitored at Si2 and the interest expressed by members of the EDA community”, said Dr. Sumit DasGupta, Senior Vice President, Engineering at Si2.

The Open Modeling Coalition (OMC) under Si2 already uses the Nangate library as an integral part of the reference flow for the DFM, Statistical and Characterization & Validation working groups.

Nangate will be showing the 45nm Open Cell library in booth 3265 at DAC in San Francisco. At the show, Nangate will have several tokens of appreciation: we will be drawing a winner every day for an iPod Shuffle. We will also be giving away pens and clocks, and USB Flash sticks loaded with a free Liberty Viewer for viewing Liberty files in a browsable organized manner. All you need to do is schedule a demo and after the demo is complete you will receive a 1GB USB stick pre-loaded with the Nangate Liberty Viewer™.
