Vanu Ports Its Radio Description Language to PTSC's IGNITE Microprocessors for software defined radio applications
SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-June 9, 2003-- PTSC (Patriot Scientific Corp.)(OTCBB: PTSC - news) Patriot Scientific Corp. today announced the completion of a port of Vanu, Inc.'s Radio Description Language (RDL) to the IGNITE™ processor family.
Vanu, Inc. is a developer of software for software radios. Unlike traditional hardware radios, which are limited to one specific type of communication service, software radios allow a single wireless device to provide multiple services. This means one software radio can support a range of capabilities that previously required multiple hardware radios.
Due to its exceptional attributes as a next generation embedded general purpose and Java processor, the IGNITE processor has been selected by Software Defined Radio developers from among many embedded processors The embedded SDR platform has been implemented with an industry standard Real Time Operating System to comply with the stringent requirements of RDL applications. Fused with the operating system is the Java Virtual Machine that provides the ability to remotely configure and execute a variety of application programs on demand.
