Silicon Integrated Systems Licences ARM Core For PC Logic Applications


CAMBRIDGE, UK and TAIPEI, TAIWAN -August 01, 2001 -ARM [(LSE: ARM); (Nasdaq: ARMHY)], the industry's leading provider of 16/32-bit embedded RISC microprocessor solutions, and SiS, the leading core logic and graphic chip supplier based in Taiwan, today announced that SiS has licensed the ARM7TDMI® microprocessor core for use in its product range of integrated chipsets for PCs.

SiS currently offers core logic products integrating network and 3D graphics for both Intel and AMD processors and will soon offer a system-on-chip (SoC) solution. This agreement will allow SiS to integrate ARM® intellectual property (IP) into future core logic products for PCs. SiS also plans to use the ARM7TDMI core to develop networking and communication products. This agreement with SIS further underlines the importance of the Asian market to ARM and its commitment to build relationships with companies throughout the region .

SiS plans to make products based on the ARM7TDMI core available in Q4, 2002.
