Imagination submits PowerVR Series6 cores for OpenGL ES 3.0 conformance
London, UK -- February 4, 2013 -- Imagination Technologies, a leading multimedia and communications technologies company, announces that it is among the first to submit PowerVR Series6 ‘Rogue’ drivers for OpenGL ES 3.0 conformance with Khronos.* Designed for the latest APIs, including OpenGL ES 3.0, PowerVR Series6 is already shipping in end user product.
Says Tony King-Smith, VP marketing, Imagination: "With such advanced features as multiple rendering targets, instancing, and more, Khronos’ OpenGL ES 3.0 is a significant step forward for mobile and embedded graphics, bringing these platforms significantly closer to performance and feature set parity with traditionally more capable desktops and consoles. The widespread adoption by semiconductor manufacturers and developers has made our PowerVR family the GPU technology of choice for App development. We are excited by this next phase of GPU which will blur the boundaries between embedded and traditional high end graphics platforms."
* Conformance submission is on Imagination’s Rogue Test Chip on Linux 3.2.0. Product is based on a published Khronos Specification, and is expected to pass the Khronos Conformance Testing Process. Current conformance status can be found at www.khronos.org/conformance.
