Fujitsu Initiates Legal Action Against Nanya Technology Corporation Japan; Alleges Infringement of DRAM Patent
In its complaint, Fujitsu alleges that DRAMs manufactured by Nanya infringe certain Fujitsu DRAM patent claims. The complaint follows a period of attempts by Fujitsu to engage in negotiations with Nanya aimed at reaching a licensing agreement. Believing further negotiations would not be productive, Fujitsu determined that litigation was necessary in order to protect the value of its intellectual property in the DRAM area.
Masanobu Katoh, Corporate Vice President and President of the Law & Intellectual Property Unit of Fujitsu Limited explained, "Fujitsu has been conducting research and development of semiconductors for years and owns over ten thousand patents around the world in the field of electronics devices, including semiconductor memories. We consider our intellectual properties as important company assets and believe it is our right to pursue their protection under international rules."
