Product Announcement: New Fast Models for the Cortex Processor Roadmap
Cambridge, UK –Mar. 30, 2009 - ARM [(LSE: ARM); (Nasdaq: ARMH)] today announced at Embedded Systems Conference, San Jose, Calif., expansion of its Fast Models portfolio with the introduction of two new models for the Cortex™-A9 MPCore™ multicore processor and for the Cortex-M3 processor.
These models are designed to enable:
- Simple, cost-effective deployment and maintenance of Virtual Platforms to globally-distributed development teams
- Regression testing of new software/hardware combinations
The Fast Models for the Cortex-A9 MPCore multicore processor and Cortex-M3 processor are the latest examples to be added to the ARM® Fast Model portfolio. They complement an already wide range of very fast, validated models for ARM CPUs, ARM PrimeCell® peripherals, such as the new PL310 L2 Cache Controller, and generic interfaces Included with the product are Fast Model Tools that enable the creation of custom Virtual Platforms or Exported Virtual Sub-systems. Fast Models can achieve speeds of up to 250MHz to enable real-time execution of software which can be analyzed using the ARM Profiler tool.
Product Benefits
- Develop and optimize software applications, middleware and drivers for platforms based on new ARM CPUs - ahead of hardware availability
- Model functionality is validated by ARM for true-to-hardware performance
- Roadmap to future ARM architecture technology and CPU availability
- Models can be used within the supplied ARM simulation environment or may be exported for use in the industry-standard OSCI TLM 2.0 SystemC environment
Availability: April 2009
