Coreworks CWda60 IP wins IEC's 2010 DesignVision Award
Lisbon, Portugal and Santa Clara, California - February 10, 2010 - Coreworks' Dolby Digital Professional Encoder IP core (CWda60), implemented with its SideWorks technology, has been chosen as the IP winner in the 2010 edition of the DesignVision Awards, as annouced on 02/02/10. The International Engineering Consortium (IEC) recognizes this product as the most important contribution to the semiconductor IP industry of last year. The SideWorks technology enables automated development of extremely compact and low power IP cores. The CWda60 IP core is so small that it can fit economically in an FPGA device, competing with DSP solutions for the first time ever.
"This year's winners exemplify the highest level of innovation in today's industry," commented IEC Executive Vice President Roger Plummer. "We are pleased to congratulate Coreworks for its CWda60- Dolby Digital Professional Encoder IP core, which received the 2010 DesignVision Award this week at DesignCon 2010."
"Coreworks is of course proud to see its efforts recognized by a prestigious body such as the IEC," said Jose T. de Sousa, president and chief executive officer of Coreworks. “Building a reconfigurable computing company is a long and challenging process, and this kind of recognition can help a lot”.
About SideWorks™
Introduced in January 2008, the SideWorks technology enables system and semiconductor developers to create application-specific processor architectures, especially DSP architectures, automatically from a C-language description. The SideWorks tools generate RTL code optimized for power, performance and area, and respective compiled code. This ESL approach results in significant silicon area, energy and time savings – up to 75% reduction in either area or power consumption compared to RTL designed by hand – requiring a fraction of the effort.
