AMCC and Intrinsity, Inc. Reveal PowerPC Core Development Pact

Austin, Texas - March 2, 2006

- AMCC (Nasdaq:AMCC) and Intrinsity, Inc. have announced a technology agreement to jointly develop a high performance PowerPC® core for integration into future AMCC products. Utilizing its Fast14 technology, Intrinsity and AMCC will develop a new PowerPC® embedded processor core that will offer leading edge performance and low power operation as well as full compatibility with the industry standard PowerPC® instruction set architecture.

AMCC, a leading supplier of embedded PowerPC® devices for the embedded processing and communications marketplaces, is also the leading vendor of network processing devices and transport products targeted at digitally converged multimedia networks.

Intrinsity provides the tools, technologies, and expertise to enable customers to efficiently and predictably produce fast digital logic. Essential to achieving this is Intrinsity's proprietary Fast14 technology, which provides not only circuit speeds of up to, and beyond, 3 GHz, but also the means to trade off speed, power and silicon area to achieve an optimal solution for customer design targets. Fast14 technology includes a combination of a process specific library, a specification language and a set of tools that help automate the design flow.

Brian Wilkie, Vice President and Assistant General Manager of the Integrated Communications Processing Business Unit of AMCC, said "AMCC is a leading supplier of highly integrated system-on-chip products based on the PowerPC® architecture. Intrinsity has the tools, technology and expertise to enable significant performance improvements in devices using industry standard CMOS silicon fabrication." Wilkie added, "Combining Intrinsity's Fast14 technology and processor architecture expertise with AMCC's expertise in PowerPC® - and the embedded market - should produce significant shifts in the dynamics of the market."

"Intrinsity's Fast14 is a revolutionary technology for high performance chip designs. It provides productivity, performance, area and power savings in ways no conventional methodology can achieve." said Bob Russo, Intrinsity CEO. "We are pleased to be working with AMCC to deliver a multi-GHz, low power PowerPC® embedded core that will provide superior performance per watt. Additionally, by employing our Fast14 toolset, our expert processor design team will be able to leverage the strengths of both dynamic and static CMOS technologies, and tape out the complete core in synchronization with AMCC's aggressive delivery schedule."
