Agree, Freescale, Infineon opt to close StarCore

SAN JOSE, Calif. — StarCore LLC, the digital signal processor (DSP) organization formed by Agere, Freescale and Infineon, is shutting down.
StarCore (Austin, Texas) will officially shut its doors on Aug. 15, with the assets split between the owners, according to Will Strauss, president of Forward Concepts Co., a market research firm.
A spokesman for StarCore confirmed that the DSP licensing company will cease operations. The 100 employees within the organization will be transferred to its investors in Agere, Freescale and Infineon.
