Frame Rate Converter for 4K

Overview

TMC’s FRUC (Frame Rate Up-Converter) for 4K RTL Core utilizes proprietary ”DMNA- MEMC” (Motion Estimation and Motion Compensation) algorithm which generates high accuracy and non-artifact interpolating frames with compact circuit resource. By inserting the interpolating new frames into the original frames, the smooth 4K video images can be generated

Key Features

  • TMC’s FRUC utilizes “MEMC” algorithm optimized by DMNA.
  • Extremely small generations of halo, judder, and artifact on the interpolating frames.
  • 2:2 pull down and 2:3 pull down detections are implemented.
  • Processing functions for motionless section, scrolling ticker, and screen edge are implemented.
  • Multiple latency modes can be set.
  • Parameters for interpolation can be set from outside of the core.
  • Implementation to FPGA is possible.

Benefits

  • Input & Output formats : YUV 4:2:0 / 4:2:2 / 4:4:4 / RGB
  • Resolution : ~4K
  • Frame rate : Input = 24, 30, 48, 50, 60fps Output = Max. 240fps
  • Frame Conversion rates : x2, x4, x5, x8, x10
  • Input / Output interface : Raster scan format (customization available)
