ARINC 818-2 IP Core

The vendor has designed & implemented ARINC 818-2 Transmitter & Receiver IP Core supporting multiple line rates up to 8.5 Gbps.

Overview

The vendor has designed & implemented ARINC 818-2 Transmitter & Receiver IP Core supporting multiple line rates up to 8.5 Gbps.

ARINC 818 (ADVB) is a high data rate video bus based on the ANSI Fiber Channel Audio-Video (FC-AV) protocol standards. Emphasizing cost reduction as well as speeding up the link initialization. ARINC 818 is a unidirectional interface that was developed for avionics systems, such as connecting mission processors to cockpit displays like HUDS, MFDs, PFDs, or HMDs. Used widely in Boeing 787 and the KC46A tanker, Airbus A350 and A400M, the COMAC C-919, the C-17, F15, F18 and various military aircrafts.

Key features

  • Compliant to ARINC818-2 Specification. The max speed supported is 12.75 Gbps.
  • Built on Fiber Channel Audio Video protocol.
  • Point-to-Point Video/Data Transmission support using 8B/10B Encoding over the serial link.
  • Supports both optical and electrical links.
  • Supports line-segmentation and line-synchronous transmission.
  • Receiver error and status reporting with support for user data.
  • CEMILAC certified and DO-254 DAL-B Compliant design.

Enabling High Performance SoCs Through Multi-Die Re-use

This paper gives a high-level overview of a technique for rapid design of new IC designs using multiple dice packaged in a variety of aggregations allowing for differnent performance levels and price points to be achieved. The technique relies on a new high-bandwidth low pin-count communication channel between two or more dice.

An HDTV SoC Based on a Mixed Circuit-Switched / NoC Interconnect Architecture (STBus/VSTNoC)

This paper presents the interconnect solution adopted for an HDTV SoC developed in HVD division of STM. The SoC is a one-chip satellite HDTV set-top box IC developed in 65nm technology. The interconnect of this HDTV SoC is the first in STM implementing a mixed architecture based on the circuit-switched interconnect named STBus and the new NoC interconnect named VSTNoC.
