40G OTN Processor, Transponder

Overview

The Apodis IPL4302F OTN processors ASICs are a Transponder member of Tera-Pass’ product family for access applications. Apodis IPL4302F processors support the functionality required by metro, access and enterprise networks. Apodis IPL4302F’s client-side supports up to 4 multi-service ports and multiplexes them to 4 OTU2 (10.7/11.1 G) bearers.

Key Features

  • 4 Client Ports support up to 40G of traffic presented through 4 multi-rate and multi-protocol interfaces. The 10G-class Client Signals can be accepted through serial or parallel interfaces.
  • 4 Client Signal Processors, each capable of supporting up to 10G of Client Traffic, implement the functionality of various Client-Side protocols, such as Ethernet, SDH/SONET, OTN and more.
  • A Transparent Agnostic Fabric (TAF) provides non-blocking, unidirectional, bi-directional and unrestricted multicast connectivity.
  • 4 Line Signal Processors, each capable of supporting up to 10G of Line Traffic, implement the functionality of OTU2 bearers offering multiple choices of Forward Error Correction (FEC) algorithms. The 4 OTU2 signals can be presented over serial or parallel SFI4.2 interfaces.
  • A 32-bits parallel control bus supports Intel and Freescale operational modes.
  • An External Overhead Interface (EOI) provides round-robin access to all the GCC channels of OTN signals, to all the DCC channels of SDH/SONET signals and Read/Write (R/W) to the entire overheads of OTN signals. Special built-in logical operators allow to implement additional functions on OTN overhead fields.
  • Apodis OTN processors operate off a single 155.52MHz reference clock. No additional external circuitry is needed to support the wide variety of protocols and bitrates of its Client and Line interfaces. Integrated jitter attenuators with variable filter poles meet the most stringent requirements for Jitter Generation, Accepted Jitter and Transfer Jitter.
