Downconverter IR SSB Mixer used in receives

Overview

RFDN02C (DNC Mixer) is IR SSB Mixer used in receive application. The process used to design DNC Mixer is 0.1um GaAs pHEMT. This Mixer employs two resistive FET switches to mix LO and RF. In a resistive FET mixer, where the LO of the mixer is applied to the gate. RF is applied to the drain and, consequently, IF is filtered from the drain. No drain dcbias voltage is applied to the transistor. Gate bias can help us achieve better linearity, minimum conversion loss with less LO power over the wideband down conversion operation. Results are shown in datasheet with all parasitics & coupling effects at desired frequency.

Key Features

  • RF Frequency: 24-30 GHz
  • IF Frequency: 5-6 GHz
  • LO Frequency: 24-36 GHz
  • Conversion Gain of 9.7 dB
  • IIP3 of +20 dBm with min LO power
  • Image Rejection of 20 dBc
  • Die size: 1.85 mm x 2.62 mm

Benefits

  • Better linearity
  • Minimum conversion loss
  • Less LO power over wideband
  • Porting: IP can be ported to 65nm Si / CMOS node
