Can Open Source Work for SSD Designs?
Sun would like to use fewer HDDs and replace the ones they eliminate with something smaller. Something faster would be nice too. So would something that uses less power and generates less heat. Sounds like an SSD.
However, there’s a big problem with most commercial SSDs. They’re too darn big. Most of them are designed to be form, fit, and functional replacements for HDDs, which solves the power and speed problems but doesn’t fix the air-flow blockage.
