Cosmic Circuits Announces Validation as a Common Platform Solution Provider of New Analog IP Cores
Silicon Validated Power-Regulator and Monitoring Analog-to-Digital Converter Can Help Reduce Design Risk on Common Platform Technology
Bangalore, INDIA, and Gilroy, California -- August 8, 2008 – Cosmic Circuits, a leading provider of differentiated Analog and Mixed-signal IP, today announced the validation of silicon IP cores for 90nm Common Platform™ technology. This includes IP cores for high-performance power-regulation and analog-to-digital conversion that are used predominantly in chips for portable consumer products and communications. These IP cores have been designed with Common Platform technology ground rules and are silicon proven at IBM today. Due to GDSII compatibility between Common Platform technology manufacturers – IBM, Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing and Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. –, this IP can be made available at additional manufacturers upon request.
The Common Platform Solution Provider designation demonstrates that Cosmic Circuits’ silicon IP cores have been validated as compatible with Common Platform process technology, and that industry quality levels have been achieved. Validated solutions can provide clients with potential time-to-market advantages while helping to reduce development risk. Common Platform Solution Provider membership also signals Cosmic Circuits’ participation in a growing, collaborative ecosystem that fosters innovation and that is dedicated to providing comprehensive, proven semiconductor solutions.
The use of general purpose monitoring analog-to-digital converters is common on portable system-on-chip designs, and the integration of power-regulators offers a route for chip companies to differentiate their products. Through this collaboration, availability of these IP cores validated for 90nm Common Platform technology can speed time-to-market with reduced chip development risk and cost.
“We are happy to announce this validation that came out of our collaboration with the Common Platform companies,” said Krishnan Ramabadran, Vice President of Marketing for Cosmic Circuits. “Power-regulators and general purpose A/D converters are typically sought after by chip designers in the portable consumer and communication space. These IP cores have been designed for enhancing performance and battery-life, bringing both differentiation and quality to our offerings.”
“The Common Platform model enables customers to move their designs among multiple manufacturers and add their own differentiating IP to focus on the market opportunities most valuable to their specific business,” said Mark Ireland, vice president, Common Platform, IBM. “The validation of Cosmic Circuits’ silicon IP cores on 90nm Common Platform technology is another example of the expanding IP ecosystem that enables the Common Platform companies to provide customers with silicon-proven IP, which can help speed time-to-market, enhance performance and reduce cost.”
This validation is one of Cosmic Circuits’ many initiatives to ensure quality of its IP cores, thus enabling customers to take a fast and risk-reduced path to silicon.
