ASICLAND Partners with Daegu Metropolitan City to Advance Demonstration and Commercialization of Korean AI Semiconductors
- Signed an MOU with Daegu Metropolitan City, fabless companies, related institutions, and universities to foster a Korean AI semiconductor commercialization ecosystem
- Accelerating commercialization of Korean AI semiconductors and securing industry references
February 20, 2026 -- ASIC design solution leader ASICLAND Co., Ltd. announced that it will collaborate with Daegu Metropolitan City to advance the demonstration and commercialization of Korean AI semiconductors, strengthening regional industrial competitiveness.
On February 12, ASICLAND signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the Daegu City Hall Annex with Daegu Metropolitan City, relevant institutions, and promising fabless companies to promote cooperation in the demonstration and commercialization of Korean AI semiconductors.
The agreement aims to enhance market competitiveness by supporting the entire process—from planning and design to demonstration and commercialization—by connecting AI semiconductors designed by domestic fabless companies with demand sectors in Daegu’s key industries, including robotics and mobility.
Under the MOU, Daegu Metropolitan City will establish a cooperative demonstration environment and provide policy support, while participating companies will collaborate on customized AI semiconductor demonstration projects, on-site industrial integration, and the development of commercial references tailored to end-user needs.
In particular, ASICLAND—currently the only official VCA partner of TSMC in Korea—plans to leverage its advanced process design expertise and next-generation packaging Chiplet technology to deliver optimized semiconductor design solutions for regional demand companies. The company will also provide MPW services, design IP verification, and technical support throughout the demonstration process. Through these efforts, ASICLAND will serve as a business bridge, helping Korean AI semiconductors secure market competitiveness and transition successfully into commercialization.
In addition, Daegu Mechatronics & Materials Institute, Korea Intelligent Automotive Parts Promotion Institute, Korea Institute for Robot Industry Advancement, and the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation of Kyungpook National University will participate in establishing a full-cycle industry–academia–research collaboration framework, covering demand discovery, demonstration matching, technical advisory services, and workforce development.
Jongmin Lee, CEO of ASICLAND, stated, “This agreement marks an important milestone in enhancing the commercialization potential of Korean AI semiconductors while establishing a practical demonstration foundation for domestic fabless companies. As a global design house, we will help bridge the gap between demonstration and commercialization and contribute to strengthening the competitiveness of Korea’s AI semiconductor ecosystem in partnership with Daegu Metropolitan City.”
