Reusing internally developed intellectual property and incorporating third-party IP has become increasingly common in today's development teams as market pressures shorten market windows and Moore's Law continues to hold sway.
To meet the scheduling pressures and increasing design complexity, known-good, prequalified IP has become a given, allowing projects to better meet market windows and improve their chance of first-pass success.
Many standard-function and interface IP blocks are available from third-party IP vendors. And more solutions are available as companies enter the market. While the wide range of choices helps ensure that your functional needs will be met, the sheer number of similar IP makes the selection process a bit daunting.
