Fortemedia Launches Highly Integrated Voice Processor For Automotive Applications
FM1388 Voice Processor that Supports Multiple Interfaces and Enables Flexible System Integration with Voice Tracking Capability for In-Car Applications will Showcase at CES 2014
Sunnyvale, CA. -- December 18th, 2013 -- Today Fortemedia Inc., the world leader in voice processing technologies, announced the availability of the industry’s most advanced and highly integrated voice processor, the FM1388, supporting advanced voice processing for automotive applications while supporting ease of system design
As technology interfaces have become increasingly user friendly and more intuitive in nature, voice as an input interface in a car is the natural next step in this evolutionary process. Whether people are navigating the road using navigation systems or responding to an incoming call in a hands free mode, using voice as an input provides a safer and a more enjoyable experience. In addition, this experience can then be further extended to incorporate Voice Recognition applications for future upcoming connected cars. High quality voice communication in a car continues to remain as a challenging problem and is linked to several factors that include the microphone positioning, sensitivity and a variety of transient vehicle noises present such as road bump, wind, rain, wiper noise in addition to semi-constant noises such as AC, heater and fan noise.
Fortemedia’s new FM1388 mixed signal voice processor has advanced voice signal enhancement capabilities that are tested and specifically developed and applied towards automotive applications since the audio ambience is quite different from the traditional office or conference room. The processor also incorporates several analog and digital interfaces, making system integration easy for customers, partners and ODM’s. This flexibility enables the FM1388 to act as a standalone or a co-processor in a car audio system.
“FM1388 has been developed based on the unique and specific needs of the automotive market,” said Dr. Paul Huang, CEO and chairman of Fortemedia, Inc. “Fortemedia has been providing voice solutions for several markets and the 1388 is another testament to our company’s innovation for the automotive industry.”
Fortemedia will demo FM1388 technology with a 4 microphone solution at CES. The product is expected to start sampling in Q2 2014 and MP in Q3, 2014.
