TSMC buys memory IP firm, says report

SAN JOSE, Calif. — Continuing to expand its intellectual-property (IP) efforts, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Ltd. (TSMC) has acquired Emerging Memory Technologies Inc. (EMT), according to a report from the Ottawa Citizen.
In the report, EMT declined to comment on its ties with silicon foundry giant TSMC. However, ''An important clue is the fact the logo on [EMT's] offices at 349 Terry Fox Dr. changed a few weeks ago. It now reads: Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp.,'' according to the report.
