Alizem releases new Safe Engine Stop-Start Software IP to improve energy-efficiency of delivery vehicles
Lévis (CANADA), May 24th 2016 -- Alizem is proud to announce the release of its new Safe Engine Stop-Start Embedded Software IP meant to radically reduce fuel consumption and GHG emissions of vehicles that are running on idle for long periods of time such as delivery vehicles, police cars or industrial trucks. Based on a patented and proven technology, it is currently running on more than 20,000 vehicles and it is packaged with an optional SaaS/IoT fleet management software in order to be able to track actual idle time, fuel savings and other vehicle and driving parameters.
This product arises from a partnership with Geothentic inc., a Montreal-based firm that has developed the IP and all the corresponding know-how over the years and selling it as a retrofit hardware product to owners of large vehicle fleets. This product is now offered as purely software IP by Alizem and meant to be integrated by automotive OEMs/Tier1 and sold as a built-on option to their vehicles to make them more attractive to owners of large vehicles fleets looking to reduce their fuel costs and their carbon footprint. By reducing idle time by a factor of three, savings of 175$ and 420kg of CO2 per vehicle per month are typically observed.
“With new COP21 regulations, fleet owners are now becoming financially motivated not only by reducing fuel costs but also by reducing their GHG footprint and this solution can do both” said Dr. Marc Perron, President at Alizem. “Transportation sector is responsible of 30% of all GHG emissions in OECD countries and shutting off engine instead of keeping it on idle when the vehicle is stopped is a proven and easy way to reduce fuel consumption and GHG emissions. While similar features are already existing in some vehicles brands, many are still lagging and this product is a great option for them to quickly go to market by leveraging existing and proven technology without re-inventing the wheel”.
This product is ready for Kinetis® microcontrollers from NXP Semiconductors. For more informations, please visit Alizem website and download the corresponding product package.
