GDT introduces H.264 encoder Silicon IP
Athens, Greece -- January 4, 2007 -- Today, Global Digital Technologies S.A (GDT) announced the availability of their second generation H.264/ Advanced Video Coding (AVC) Encoder Silicon Intellectual Property (SIP).
“GDT-H264EBH”, highly integrated silicon IP core, is fully compliant to the emerging ISO/IEC 14496-10 (ITU-T H.264 or MPEG-4 Part10 /AVC) video coding standard. It is designed to offer maximum performance and compression quality at the lowest possible bit-rate.
GDT’s second generation soft core supports resolutions from QCIF (176x120) up to SXGA (1280x1024) at 30 fps or more. H264EBH supports HDTV video compression (720p) when implemented i.e. in 0.18um VLSI technology. Low cost FPGA implementations support D1 resolution at 30 fps. The core accepts standard digital video input requiring minimal host intervention to produce a fully formed NAL video stream. It can be interfaced to any host through an AMBA system interface.
“Excellent compression, significant bit rate savings and the best real-time video quality for video coding systems, make our H.264 solution the best alternative for applications such as Security Surveillance, Digital Imaging, DSCs, HDTV, Mobile Communication, IPTV streaming, or Video Conferencing.” said Dr. Gregory Doumenis CTO of Global Digital Technologies S.A.
The GDT-H.264 fully documented soft IP core encoder is available as soft IP (VHDL) and as optimized FPGA Netlist, together with an advanced SoC prototyping environment, including the DS-600 FPGA evaluation board, S/W APIs, embedded Linux drivers and an IP based networked video streaming reference application.
Customization and built-in application-specific features are optional.
