Faraday Reveals Serial ATA IP
HSINCHU, TAIWAN – October 22, 2002 Faraday Technology Corporation (TAIEX: 3035), a leading company in ASIC design service and IP development industry, today announced the availability of its silicon-proven Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (Serial ATA) IP and launched a promotional campaign.
Serial ATA is expected to replace current IDE interface, putting in use for storage products such as hard disks, network storages, CD-ROMs, DVD-ROMs, etc. A state-of-the-art high-speed PC interface standard, Serial ATA features higher maximum transfer rate of 1.5 Gbps, longer cable length of one meter, and hot-plugging capability.
"With 1.5Gbps transfer rate, simpler cabling and guaranteed compatibility over earlier parallel ATA standards, Serial ATA is set to become the dominant interface for hard disks," said Frankwell Lin, Vice President and Spokesperson of Faraday. "Faraday's ASIC and IP customers will be able to reduce their time to market by using our silicon-proven, easy-to-integrate Serial ATA IP, while focusing on developing their own Serial ATA-based IC or system products, such as motherboard, disk drives, network storage, CD-ROM, and DVD-ROM."
Fully compliant with Serial ATA 1.0 specifications and silicon-proven in UMC 0.18-micron CMOS process, Faraday's Serial ATA Physical Layer (PHY) Test Chip is available for ASIC and IP customers now. To help ease design, Faraday fully supports the Serial ATA IP with data sheets and other technical documentation. For more information, please contact Allen Huang at +886-3-5787888 ext: 8288.
