Wall Street's Talking Emulation
Analysis of their quarterly earnings calls indicates that all of the "Big Three" EDA vendors are bullish on emulation.
Wall Street is talking hardware emulation just like the Semiconductor industry, if the latest earnings calls from the big three EDA vendors, all of whom provide hardware emulation solutions, are any indication. This verifies my view that hardware emulation is among the fastest growing segments of EDA and a "must-have" verification tool.
The most recent quarterly earnings calls were very informative and I gleaned several interesting insights, the most notable being that emulation evaluations are at record levels. Not surprisingly, to me anyway, many companies performing evaluations are new users to emulation. In fact, one executive noted that more than half of the company's sales from the fourth quarter of 2015 were from new customers who had not purchased before. For current evaluations, it's a mix of previous customers and plenty of new customers.
