In a further example of hyperscalers seeking to control their entire AI technology stack, Meta reportedly plans to acquire RISC-V AI chip startup Rivos.
Meta has its own internal AI chip effort but still spends, and will continue to spend, several billion dollars on chips for its AI infrastructure, primarily Nvidia GPUs, which it uses for both training and inference.
