Overview
From early Motorola and TI DSPs to modern smartphone DSPs in application processors, DSPs have been designed and optimized for increasingly higher degree of integration, computing power, and power efficiency. In terms of the processor architecture, DSP went from the first-generation VLIW architecture to the second-generation vector processor architecture.
The vector processor design was first seen on the Cray-1 supercomputer. It is now implemented in the Hexagon DSP in Qualcomm's latest smartphones APs. RiVAI is the world's first to apply the vector processor architecture in professional audio DSPs.
