ZLG Selects CAST CAN XL and TSN IP for Next-Generation Vehicle-Network Development and Test Tools
Standards-compliant IP supports CAN XL tools and deterministic Ethernet switches for OEM R&D, production, and testing
Woodcliff Lake, NJ — October 8, 2026 — Semiconductor intellectual property provider CAST today announced that Guangzhou Zhiyuan Electronics Co., Ltd. (ZLG) has licensed CAST's CAN-CTRL Bus Controller IP core with CAN XL support and the TSN-SW-1G Multiport TSN Ethernet Switch IP core for a new generation of vehicle-network development and test products.
ZLG develops automotive communications and test solutions used in new-energy vehicle research and development, production, and testing. In addition to the automotive market, industrial manufacturing and robotics developers are becoming adopters of the CAN-XL and TSN Ethernet protocols. ZLG’s current portfolio covers CAN, CAN FD, LIN, and Automotive Ethernet interfaces with analyzers, data loggers, and ZXDoc vehicle-bus analysis, diagnosis, simulation, and calibration software. The new products under development will extend these capabilities with CAN XL and deterministic TSN Ethernet.
ZLG selected third-party IP to meet its performance goals while enabling faster, repeatable development and production of networking tools. Standards compliance, usability, and mature technical support were primary requirements; CAST's reputation and recommendations within ZLG's customer and partner network also influenced the decision.
“To build tools our OEM customers can rely on across R&D, production, and testing, we needed standards-compliant IP that would be practical to integrate and backed by mature technical support,” said Xinjie Hu, market manager at ZLG. “CAST's reputation was reinforced by recommendations within our customer and partner network. Development with the CAN XL core has progressed smoothly, giving us confidence as we move forward with the broader program.”

ZLG has already completed an initial prototype of its CAN XL tool, with product development continuing toward a future commercial release. Development of the TSN switch is planned as the next phase of the program.
“ZLG has substantial experience turning vehicle-network standards into practical development and test products,” said Nikos Zervas, chief executive officer of CAST. “We are pleased that ZLG selected CAST to extend its product roadmap toward CAN XL and deterministic Ethernet, and we look forward to supporting the team through both development programs.”

About the CAN XL Controller IP
CAST's CAN-CTRL IP core implements Classical CAN, CAN FD, and CAN XL in a configurable controller compliant with ISO 11898-1:2024. It also supports Time-Triggered CAN (TTCAN), CAN frame timestamping as described by CiA 603, and AUTOSAR- and SAE J1939-oriented designs. Configurable message filtering and transmit buffering help reduce host-processor overhead, while standard interfaces, software drivers, verification resources, and documentation simplify ASIC and FPGA integration. A safety-enhanced version of the core is certified ISO-26262 ASIL-D Ready.
About the TSN Switch IP
The TSN-SW-1G IP core is a configurable multiport Layer 2 Ethernet switch supporting IEEE 802.1Q bridging and essential Time-Sensitive Networking functions for precise time synchronization, traffic shaping, scheduling, and frame preemption. Its cut-through architecture operates at wire speed and can provide sub-microsecond port-to-port latency. Optional hardware modules add frame replication and elimination for reliability (IEEE 802.1CB) and per-stream filtering and policing (IEEE 802.1Qci).
Both cores are available for ASIC and FPGA implementation. Visit CAST's Automotive Interface Controllers page for technical details, sample implementation results, and licensing information, or contact CAST to discuss project requirements.
