Xilinx Award Winning Platform Studio Extends Ease-Of-Use For Embedded Processing Design
New tool suite release opens early access for embedded processing with industry leading Virtex-5 platform FPGAs
SAN JOSE Calif., August 21, 2006 – Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ: XLNX) today announced immediate availability of version 8.2i of the Xilinx Platform Studio tool suite for embedded processing design. The tool suite is part of the Xilinx Embedded Development Kit (EDK) and introduces early access support for the company’s new 65nm VirtexTM-5 LX domain-optimized FPGAs. The latest release of Platform Studio 8.2i incorporates design enhancements to optimize embedded processing development and debug.
“Designers of embedded applications continue to seek flexible solutions for their evolving design challenges,” said Lawrence Getman, director of marketing for the Embedded Processing Division at Xilinx. “The unique enhancements in Platform Studio 8.2i streamline embedded system design to further take advantage of the flexibility offered by Xilinx embedded processor cores. With this new release, we have also opened up early access for embedded processing support using Virtex-5 LX devices -- the fastest FPGAs available today.”
Enhanced Embedded Design and Debug
Platform Studio 8.2i introduces many ease-of-use improvements as well as powerful new debugging capabilities. Better integration between tools within the Platform Studio environment as well as linker script and data sheet generation improves productivity. A new configuration wizard aides in setting up debug sessions and version 8.2i includes a specific MicroBlazeTM Trace Core (MTC) from embedded partner Agilent Technologies. The MTC allows capture of real-time code flow with powerful triggering capabilities and deep memory trace while using Agilent Windows®-based logic analyzers. Additionally, version 8.2i improves status visibility of IP cores as well as the performance of invoking internal tools and loading large designs.
