Best-in class switching regulators, from Dolphin Integration, reaching 90% efficiency
Grenoble, France - November 11, 2011 -- Dolphin Integration unveil two new members of their panoply of embedded power-supply regulators. Both of these are switching regulators targeting applications requiring high conversion efficiency: more than 90% when the average current is above 10% of the maximum value.
They offer a programmable output voltage between 0.8 V and 3.3 V to drive diverse logic or analog embedded circuitry and they grant compatibility with lithium-ion batteries, 2xAA batteries, power rails, USB interfaces.
Each regulator is configurable to fit the maximum current it must supply, up to 600 mA with internal transistors and up to 5 A with external transistors, to minimize silicon area. It also features fully-integrated active compensation, which limits the bill-of-material to one inductor and one capacitor, with no need for resistors being.
These regulators are first available in 180 nm process and readily extended to other processes.
