Intertrust Announces Patent Licensing Agreement with Samsung Electronics
- Intertrust Technologies Corporation and Samsung Electronics have entered into a patent licensing agreement for all products made by the Samsung Digital Media & Communications (DMC) Division. Licensed Samsung DMC products include a broad range of consumer electronics and mobile products such as mobile communicators and handsets, personal computers, set top boxes, portable media players, Blu-ray Disc players, DVD players, Internet-enabled televisions, and home theater equipment. Samsung's license grants worldwide access to Intertrust's Digital Rights Management (DRM) and Trusted Computing portfolio of inventions to the aforementioned products.
Licensed technologies covered under the agreement include Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) and Marlin DRM specifications, and other trusted computing technologies used in application and content protection. Samsung and Intertrust have collaborated closely with other major consumer electronics companies in founding and developing the Marlin DRM standard.
