LONDON — RISC processor licensor ARM Holdings plc has presented plans to re-enter the DSP market with a hardware accelerator design approach called Optimode.
The product name stands for optimal data engine, and was described in a presentation to analysts and investors at ARM's Cambridge headquarters Thursday (May 13) ahead of a technical presentation at next week's Embedded Processor Forum.
"Optimode is a configurable architecture and tool set for implementing embedded signal and data processing solutions," Mike Inglis, ARM's executive vice president of marketing, said in his presentation. "Optimode technology enables the design and development of flexible, low-cost devices at performance levels unobtainable by conventional design approaches."
