Acacia Technologies Enters into License Agreement with Philips Electronics
--Acacia Research Corporation (Nasdaq:ACTG) (Nasdaq:CBMX) announced today that IP Innovation, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary that is part of the Acacia Technologies group, has entered into a license and settlement agreement with Koninklijke Philips Electronics, N.V. covering patents that apply to Audio/Video Enhancement and Synchronization, and Image Resolution Enhancement technologies. The agreement with Philips Electronics resolves a patent infringement lawsuit which was pending in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois Eastern Division.
The Audio/Video Enhancement and Synchronization technologies generally relate to the use of a noise reduction filtering system for digital video compression, and for video and audio signals received by digital radios and video displays. Other aspects of the technologies apply to the synchronization of audio/video signals. The Image Resolution Enhancement Technology generally relates to the modification of a video or printed display to improve the perceived image quality beyond the basic pixel resolution of the display.
