MIPS Appoints Alan Li as Head of Business Development to Accelerate China Growth
MIPS China business development team has strong focus on Automotive, Industrial, and Communications Infrastructure market growth, leveraging the industry-leading MIPS Atlas Portfolio of RISC-V IP
SAN JOSE, Calif.-- September 22, 2025 -- MIPS, a GlobalFoundries company, announced today that Alan Li has joined as head of Business Development for China. In this role, Alan will lead business expansion across the region, building on his extensive background in automotive, industrial, and communications infrastructure sectors to support MIPS mission to advance the next wave of physical AI.
“The adoption of physical AI at the edge and endpoint drives intense new requirements for computing platforms,” said Sameer Wasson, MIPS CEO. “Now part of GlobalFoundries, MIPS can now engage a global network with products tailored to meet specific market demands. Customers seeking open platforms focused on their workload will find MIPS uniquely delivers RISC-V IP at foundry scale.”
Alan joins MIPS from TI, where he served in various roles, including Area Director of North & West China, sales manager of automotive, and regional sales manager of Beijing. He brings extensive experience in automotive, industrial, personal electronics, communications, and enterprise markets. Alan holds a Master’s degree of Xidian University.
“I am pleased to begin building MIPS strategic presence in China, working with the ecosystem of integrated device manufacturers building new edge AI solutions,” said Alan Li. “The adoption of Physical AI in embedded computing markets requires open and modular processor technology based on RISC-V. The MIPS Atlas portfolio of IP, software and tools is focused on delivering these requirements.”
Scaling Physical AI in edge platforms will be enabled by MIPS Atlas portfolio of processor IP, software, and tools. Key to this enablement is the ability for MIPS customers use virtual platforms to evaluate processor IP and begin software/hardware co-design ahead of silicon production. This is embodied in MIPS Atlas Explorer, showcasing the ability of MIPS processor IP to accelerate deeply embedded workloads and beginning the software/hardware co-design process.
Members of the MIPS executive team, including MIPS CEO Sameer Wasson, will attend upcoming events in Shanghai, China:
