Gaisler Research AB is awarded a contract for developing the LEON4 processor
-- Gaisler Research AB announced that a contract with the amount of 165000 Euro has been signed by Gaisler Research and the Swedish National Space Board. The aim of the development is to improve the highly popular LEON3 processor with respect to performance. The LEON4 processor will be provided in a fault tolerant version for space applications and in a standard version for consumer and industrial applications.
"This contract will enable us to develop the next generation LEON processor with even higher performance. The development will further position Gaisler Research as the leading European supplier of high performance SoC solutions", says Jiri Gaisler the founder and CTO of Gaisler Research AB
The LEON4 processor will have an improved pipeline and wider cache memories giving a performance increase of 25-50% for a typical application at the same clock frequency as compared to LEON3. The LEON4 will be available the second half of 2007.
