Customization for market needs comes to a turning point with Dolphin integration Codec Configurator
Meylan, France – April 16, 2010. Dolphin Integration today reveals its breakthrough configurator for providing fast and safe instances of high performance audio converters from their JAXAUDIO kit of pre-characterized mixed signal blocks.
Matching application-level requirements for an effective Time-To-Market with the appropriate configuration instance of High Resolution Audio Converters, embedded on SoC, was not conceivable so far.
“What we have strived to become best at, is to add or take-off differentiating features for easing the transition from a launching product to its low-cost market reaper”, says Laurence Pollet – Product Manager for Dolphin converters.
She adds: “Our users may typically choose to target a first SoC for brand awareness and fast market strike, while targeting its low cost winner of mass penetration. With JAXAUDIO we now can support them, all along their SoC roadmap, by enabling their fastest Time-to-Market with a mixed signal Virtual Component”
JAXAUDIO has been developed as a kit of pre-defined blocks specialized for high resolution Delta-Sigma Audio Converters. This smart approach enables their users to embed High Resolution audio converter instances tailored with the time-to-market of an off-the-shelf standard product, at no compromise of their robustness but with the added performance due to individually optimized and pre-characterized blocks.
Indeed, the value of an audio converter configuration is as much in the ADC/DAC core as in the peripherals, which have to be consistently combined for addressing the system-level requirements.
The JAXAUDIO kit is already rich of several delta-sigma cores - from 16 to 24 bits with performances from 85 dB up to 106 dB - which are combinable with a wide range of peripherals, for inputs, outputs and multiplexing signal paths... be they headphone driver, microphone amplifier, sample rate converter, power supply regulator, etc.
Thanks to this JAXAUDIO kit, a new configuration instance can be provided in less that one month, four times less than expected.
This innovative kit of “ready-for-assembly” blocks keeps being enriched with new peripheral blocks – e.g. Sample-Rate Converter for automatic Audio-Video synchronization - to support an even wider range of requirements and ever safer SoC integration.
The company announces that a growing number of technological processes and foundries shall be supported, starting with 0.13/0.11 um and 65 nm. A retrofit at 0.18 um is already in the company roadmap as well as 40 nm.
