Overview

Fully compliant with the VSF (Video Services Forum) Technical Recommendation, "Transport of JPEG 2000 Broadcast profile video in MPEG-2 TS over IP", intoPIX JPEG2000 IP-cores, with their MPEG-2-TS encapsulation layer, guarantee a faster time to market to new market adopters. The design has been successfully connected with the equipment of major players of the broadcast market during VidTrans 2014 meeting in Arlington, VA on February 26 to 28 2014.

The reference designs delivered by intoPIX and its partners are proven interoperable solution for the industry

It answers the broadcasters' needs for a cost-effective and reliable solution to enable them to migrate toward IP networks for video transport both outside and inside the studio.

This reference designs bring also 4K upgrade capability over 1GbE and 10GbE network infrastructure today. intoPIX's new TICO lightweight visually lossless compression technology, with its pixel line latency, can be used as a smart way to map 4K video over ST2022 5-6 infrastructure. Additionally, the intoPIX JPEG2000 4K cores can be directly integrated to carry 4K over ST2022 1-2.

The reference designs can be delivered jointly with :
- SMPTE2022 1/2 & 5/6 cores from Macnica Americas on Altera devices
- SMPTE2022 1/2 & 5/6 cores from Xilinx on Xilinx devices

Key features

  • HD & 4K over 1G or 10G network

4K Video over IP workflows

Considering the necessary bandwidth for the next generation of television with UHDTV resolutions and higher frame rates, live uncompressed transport across 10GB Ethernet network or existing SDI infrastructure is not possible anymore. In fact, uncompressed 4K video at 60fps 4:2:2 requires 12Gbps or more for 4:4:4.

Convey 4K & 8K over Gigabit Network, Cat5E cables and Wifi-6

Created and engineered by intoPIX, TicoXS FIP combines JPEG XS with an advanced Flawless Imaging Profile (FIP) to deliver more compression efficiency on any content guaranteeing the best AV over IP experience using ONE Gigabit Network infrastructure.

Extending 8K over a single, cost-effective wire with TICO lightweight compression

With HD omnipresent and 4K seemingly still in its early stages, an even higher resolution, namely 8K (or UHDTV2) is arising. Display and projection manufacturers are already presenting their first 8K-capable products and the 2018 Winter Olympics were partly filmed in this currently largest video resolution format. Taking a peek into the future, Japan’s national TV “NHK” has even announced to broadcast the full Olympic games on home turf in 2020 in glorious 8K.
