Mentor Graphics Announces Interoperability of Serial ATA Intellectual Property Solution
WILSONVILLE, Ore., December 21, 2007 – Mentor Graphics Corporation today announced successful interoperability testing of Mentor’s Serial ATA (SATA) Host/Device IP controllers integrated with the SMIC and TSMC SATA PHY IP solutions at the SATA-IO Plugfest #9 in Milpitas, California (Nov 12th-15th 2007). Reaching this milestone allows Mentor to offer a completely integrated, verified, and industry-tested SATA intellectual property (IP) solution for both host and device applications running at either 1.5Gbps or 3.0Gbps speeds while supporting the latest version of the specification.
Building on the success Mentor achieved at the previous SATA Plugfest, Mentor’s SATA IP offerings demonstrated interoperability with other SATA-compliant products from all the leading vendors. The SATA platform used for interoperability testing included Mentor’s updated SATA Host and Device Controllers with optional support for Native Command Queuing (NCQ) and Asynchronous Notification along with all the mandatory features of the SATA Revision 2.6 specification.
The Mentor SATA PHY solution offers industry-leading attributes, including one of the smallest footprints at only <0.3mm² and ultra low-power consumption with less than 80mW per lane including the termination power for both the SMIC and TSMC processes.
“Demonstrating successful cross-vendor interoperability at the latest SATA Plugfest translates into higher confidence for vendors looking to integrate Mentor SATA controllers and PHY IP,” said Bill Martin, general manager for the Intellectual Property BU of Mentor Graphics. “We are focused on delivering compelling IP solutions for SATA applications – smallest footprint, power optimized, industry-tested and single-vendor IP subsystem offering.”
