Customers benefit from bundled silicon and software
MILPITAS, Calif., August 21, 2000 - LSI Logic Corporation (NYSE: LSI) today announced an agreement with Wind River to provide manufacturers of convergence-ready entertainment appliances, a bundled silicon and software solution. LSI Logic will distribute Wind River's pSOSystem® embedded real time operating system (RTOS) with the sale of its MIPS-based set-top box chips.
Manufacturers of set-top boxes who are producing products based on the pSOSystem real time operating system (RTOS) will be able to immediately lower their overall system costs when purchasing LSI Logic's DTV source decoder products, L64108, L64118 or SC2000 single-chip devices. These manufacturers will benefit from LSI Logic's aggregated purchasing power by receiving the bundled software for each set-top box produced along with the convenience of simplified licensing administration.

"The combination of Wind River's powerful development platforms for embedded systems and our industry leading digital TV and set-top box devices makes this a natural working relationship.
