Ingenic Semiconductor and Vivante Expand GPU Technology Partnership for Next Generation Mobile Products
Partnership gives Ingenic leg up on mobile solutions in tablets and smartphones as it continues building its global ecosystem
Sunnyvale, CA – April 24th, 2012 – Vivante Corporation, a global leader in graphics and compute technologies for mobile, consumer and embedded applications, and Ingenic Semiconductor, a leading China-based SoC provider for consumer devices, today announced a license agreement update that includes higher performance Vivante GPU cores to power the next wave of Ingenic applications processors. Ingenic was the first company to successfully ship non-ARM based tablets and smartphones worldwide. They also shipped the market’s first Android 4.0 (ICS) tablet, which was endorsed by Andy Rubin of Google. All those products were powered by Vivante GPUs.
Vivante graphics cores deliver an exciting and “butter smooth” user experience with state-of-the-art GPU architectures built for consumer entertainment. The GPU hardware and software stack supports the latest graphics APIs including OpenGL ES 2.0, ES “Next Gen”, desktop OpenGL, Microsoft DirectX 11 and Google RenderScript. Designed for mobile power efficiency and unified shader performance, Vivante GPUs enable products to run faster, smaller and cooler.
