DVB-RCS2 Satellite Modulator IP Core from Creonic Now Available

Kaiserslautern, Germany, Oct. 25, 2018 – Creonic GmbH, the market leader in Satellite Communications IP cores, announced today, the general availability of its latest IP core. The DVB-RCS2 modulator allows to implement a return channel over satellite and provides the capability to operate in MF-TDMA systems. The company is happy to share that it has signed multiple license agreements for this core.

The DVB-RCS2 modulator expects PDU frames and provides a ZF baseband signal that can then be further processed by an upconverter. It covers energy dispersal (scrambler), CRC encoder, turbo encoder, framer, mapper to BPSK, QPSK, 8-PSK and 16-QAM symbols, baseband filter and gain control. Sending PDU frames at user-defined times depending on the network clock is possible.

The modulator supports all linear modulation burst waveforms as specified in Annex A of the DVB-RCS2 specification. Spread-spectrum linear bursts will be available soon. Symbol rates beyond 160 Msymbols/s are possible on state-of-the-art FPGAs.
