Cortus appoints Philippe Descamps as Director Worldwide Sales
Processor IP specialist Cortus hires semiconductor industry veteran Philippe Descamps
Montpellier, France, 22nd September 2016 – Cortus, a technology leader in cost effective, silicon efficient, 32-bit processor IP, announces that they are appointing Mr Philippe Descamps as Director of Sales with immediate effect.
Philippe Descamps, a graduate of Institut Supérieur d'Electronique du Nord, Lille, brings a wealth of semiconductor industry market and application experience to Cortus. He has previously held various sales and marketing responsibilities at Atmel and Motorola with focus on high end microprocessors, microcontrollers, memories and mixed signal ASIC design. Earlier in his career he was a CPU hardware designer at both Bull and Ridge Computers.
“Philippe’s semiconductor expertise will be a great addition to the Cortus team”, says Michael Chapman, CEO and President of Cortus, “His proven experience in key markets such as smart cards, sensors and imaging will help us develop our presence in emerging markets.
“Cortus is well positioned to address embedded processing designs whether in low risk mixed signal technologies or advanced technology nodes”, says Philippe Descamps. “The combination of low power and silicon efficiency makes Cortus-based SoC designs stand out”.
The Cortus family of APS processors starts with the world’s smallest 32-bit core, the APS1, and offers growing complexity up to the floating point FPSx6 solutions. All cores interface to Cortus’ extensive IP portfolio, including caches, busses, bridges, peripherals such as Ethernet 10/100 MAC or USB. They also share the simple vectored interrupt structure which ensures rapid, real time interrupt response, with low software overhead.
The APS toolchain and IDE (for C and C++) is available to licensees free of charge, and which can be customised and branded for final customer use. Ports of various RTOSs are available such as FreeRTOS, Micrium uC/OSII® & Micrium uC/OSIII® and TargetOS.
To date approximately 900 million devices have been manufactured containing Cortus processor cores.
