Blu Wireless Licenses Arteris FlexNoC Interconnect IP for HYDRA WiGig and 4G Backhaul Subsystems
Fully-featured network-on-chip (NoC) IP shortens design time, increases performance and reduces die cost and power consumption
CAMPBELL, Calif. — November 3, 2015 —Arteris Inc., the inventor and only supplier of silicon-proven commercial network-on-chip (NoC) interconnect IP solutions, today announced that Blu Wireless Technology has licensed Arteris FlexNoC interconnect IP for use in its HYDRA WiGig and 60GHz millimeter wave baseband IP.
Blu Wireless, based in Bristol, UK, designs and licenses semiconductor intellectual property to telecommunications semiconductor companies for gigabit rate wireless modems operating in the millimeter wave frequency bands.
“Our use of Arteris FlexNoC has simplified our creation of a flexible and scalable architecture to support today’s multi-gigabit communications standards, and to more easily adapt to emerging standards through the future creation of product derivatives,” said Henry Nurser, CEO of Blu Wireless. “Because we use a complex heterogeneous multiprocessing architecture, mixing fixed-function DSP blocks with highly optimized parallel vector DSPs, we required an interconnect that implements end-to-end quality of service guaranteeing our on-chip latency and bandwidth requirements. Arteris FlexNoC delivered this QoS while using less die area and power consumption than competing technologies.”
“We are excited that Blu Wireless is using Arteris FlexNoC to help it quickly create extremely complex systems-on-chip for use in the some of the world’s highest bandwidth wireless telecommunications systems,” said K. Charles Janac, President and CEO of Arteris. “We are proud to contribute to Blu Wireless’ explosive growth as it commercializes 60GHz WiGig technology.”
