ARC International Announces New MetaWare Development Toolkit with Enhanced Integrated Development Environment
ELSTREE, England, August 4, 2005
– ARC International (LSE: ARK), the world leader in configurable CPU/DSP processor cores and application subsystems, today announced the new MetaWare® Development Toolkit. The MetaWare Toolkit includes new releases of ARC’s MetaWare C/C++ Compiler, Debugger and a new Eclipse-based Integrated Development Environment (IDE).
The MetaWare IDE includes extensions and plug-ins that integrate the MetaWare C/C++ Compiler and Debugger. It seamlessly integrates software development projects allowing coding, building and debugging in a single environment. With increased integration of the MetaWare Compiler and Debugger, software developers are able to work more efficiently without the need to toggle between tools. Also, users are able to easily incorporate additional tools into the IDE.
New features of the MetaWare Development Toolkit include:
- Source management tool
- Context-sensitive help
- Support for project collaboration
- Construction toolkit with examples
“An efficient and easy-to-use software development environment is important for many of our customers with critical time-to-market deadlines,” said Derek Meyer, VP of Sales and Marketing at ARC International. “We are pleased to be able to provide our licensees with new enhanced tools that will make designing projects with our patented configurable technology easier than ever.”
Eclipse is an open source tool platform, originally developed by IBM, and now supported by a large community of developers and major software companies. See www.eclipse.org. The new MetaWare IDE is a fully supported implementation of Eclipse, with extensions and plug-ins which integrate the MetaWare Compiler and Debugger.
Availability
The MetaWare Development Toolkit is available from ARC International now for Windows and Red Hat Linux (RHEL) platforms. The Toolkit will be available for Solaris platforms in Q4 2005. Prices for the Toolkit, including MetaWare IDE, Compiler and Debugger start at $5,495.
About ARC’s Patented Configurable SoC Technology
ARC’s configurable technology enables SoC designers to create highly differentiated silicon that is optimized to the end application. ARC-Based™ SoCs have an optimal balance of speed, area and power, and generally are smaller, lower power and therefore less expensive than SoCs developed using fixed architecture CPUs.
Using ARC’s configurable technology SoC designers can define custom extensions to accelerate critical code, resulting in greater application efficiency and a proprietary solution that is wholly owned by its inventor. ARC cores also offer powerful DSP instruction extensions through the ARC XY Advanced DSP subsystem, which can eliminate external logic and DSP blocks on an SoC.
