Overview

The LogiCORE™ Virtex®-6 GTXTransceiver Wizard automates the task of creating HDL wrappers to configure the on-chip GTX transceivers on Virtex-6 FPGAs. The Wizard’s customization GUI allows users to configure one or more GTX serial transceivers using either pre-defined templates supporting popular industry standards, or from scratch, to support a wide variety of custom protocols.

Key features

  • Creates customized HDL wrappers to configure high-speed serial transceivers
  • Predefined protocol templates support Aurora (8B/10B and 64B/66B), Common Packet Radio Interface (CPRI™), DisplayPort, Fibre Channel, Gigabit Ethernet, High-Definition Serial Digital Interface (HD-SDI), 3 Gb/s Serial Digital Interface (3G-SDI), Interlaken, Open Base Station Architecture Initiative (OBSAI), OC-48, PCI EXPRESS® (PCIe®) generation I and II, Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA) 1.5 Gb/s, SATA 3 Gb/s, Serial RapidIO generation I and II, 10 Gb Attachment Unit Interface (XAUI), and RXAUI-Dune Networks
  • Automatically configures analog settings

Implementing LTE on FPGAs

Here's a review of the LTE algorithms and a practical implementation on a Xilinx FPGA. The reference design is tested using multiple video stream with varying encoding rates.

Designing FPGA Based Reliable Systems Using Virtex-5 System Monitor

The fast track development and 24x7 operations have put tremendous pressure on the servers, networking systems and communication equipments. It has become necessary that these systems should operate reliably irrespective of the change in external operating environment like the temperature, humidity, and power fluctuations or, on chip conditions like on-chip temperature, internal voltage levels etc. Measuring the reliability of these physical systems is must for every operational unit.

Designing with Virtex-5 Embedded Tri-Mode Ethernet MACs

In this article, we’ll review the feature set of Ethernet MAC blocks in Virtex-5 devices. We’ll also describe the differences between Virtex-5 and Virtex-4 FX Ethernet MACs, illustrate some potential applications, and describe how to use standard Xilinx tools to integrate an Ethernet MAC into your design.
