The FDLR_CAN is a CAN IP module that can be implemented in an ASIC, FPGA, and mixed-signal device. It supports CAN FD light responder communication according to ISO 11898-1:2024.
For connection to the CAN physical layer, additional transceiver hardware is required. The FDLR_CAN is being developed as Safety Element out of Context (SEooC) according to ISO 26262-11:2018 Clause 4. Safety Manual and FMEDA are available on request.
Physical Layer
CAN FD light will be operable with all CAN transceiver types:
Status
The specification of the CAN FD light protocol and physical layer is released by the ISO (International Organization for Standardization):
In addition, many other CAN related standards will be updated simultaneously to support CAN FD light. E.g. the CAN Conformance Test according to ISO 16845
Mandatory License of CAN Protocols
The CAN Protocols are patented products developed by Robert Bosch GmbH.
A CAN Protocol License is required for all implementations of CAN FD, CAN FD light, TTCAN and CAN XL modules.
Note: some files may require an NDA depending on provider policy.
Protocol controller IP for a CAN FD light responder node is a CAN / CAN-FD / CAN-XL IP core from Robert Bosch GmbH listed on Semi IP Hub.
Engineers should review the overview, key features, supported foundries and nodes, maturity, deliverables, and provider information before shortlisting this CAN / CAN-FD / CAN-XL IP.
