Overview
The Zephyr TPS6201MP OTN processor IP cores are a member of Tera-Pass’ product family of OTN access components. Zephyr TPS6201MP supports general access applications and Premium Services networks for the transport of 8 client signals over an OTU2 line side link. The 8 client signals can be 6 FE/GE and 2 FE/GE/STM1/STM4 signals. Zephyr TPS6201MP incorporates an integrated EOS functionality. The OTU2 line side may operate in a 1+1 configuration.
Zephyr TPS6201MP IP Core processors can accept 8 Client Signals. 2 of the Client Signals can be FE/GE/STM1/STM4 and 6 Client Ports can accept FE/GE signals. FE/GE signals are first processed to generate their corresponding RMON statistics. Afterwards, the FE/GE signals can be transparently (GFP-T for GE and GMP for FE) or GFP-F mapped to ODU0 containers. In cases where Ethernet switches fronting the Zephyr TPS6201MP implement bandwidth limiting functionality, the FE/GE signals can also be mapped into multiple SDH containers (EOS, Ethernet Over SDH). The mapping of the FE/GE signals to SDH is done using a GFP-F procedure and a VCAT mechanism that makes use of VC-n-Xv containers. The component signals can be VC4/VC3/VC12. An LCAS mechanism can be used if there is a need for a subsequent change in the number of VC containers. The STM1/STM4 SDH signals are processed to generate their respective Performance Monitoring data and Alarms and are GMP mapped into ODU0 containers. The ODU0 containers, transporting either Ethernet FE/GE or SDH STM1/STM4 payloads, are then multiplexed into an ODU2 container that is transported over an OTU2 signal. The 2 Line Ports can be configured to operate in a 1+1 facility protection mode.

Carriers are now deploying 5G across the globe driven by the need to keep up with relentless mobile data growth. 5G New Radio (NR) operates at higher frequencies to increase bandwidth, but at the expense of range. There will therefore be a need for a much larger number of 5G RUs to provide the same coverage. The availability of cost-effective, reliable and open 5G radio units is therefore critical.
AI system architects no longer face a binary choice between scale-up and scale-out fabrics. Modern AI platforms require both to be executed efficiently, predictably, and within aggressive schedules. The shift lies in how risk is managed across these domains.
