Overview
The BLE 4.2 SoC White Box IP solution is the design data base of a fully compliant BLE 4.2 production chip with SW and profiles including Mesh and Audio profiles allowing easy connectivity with Bluetooth Smart Ready mobile phones, tablets, laptops. The IP supports BLE slave and master mode operation, including broadcast, encryption, connection updates, and channel map updates.
The IP is designed to offer high integration, ultra-low power application capabilities. It integrates strong 32-bit MCU, BLE/2.4G Radio (2Mbps) , 16KB SRAM, 14bit ADC with PGA, 6-channel PWM, three quadrature decoders, a hardware keyboard scanner (Keyscan), abundant GPIO interfaces, multi-stage power management module.
The IP is available in the following forms:
- KGD or packaged parts
- GDS II production licenses
- Grey Box (Analog/RF GDSII, Digital, FW, SW as source code)
- White Box (Source Code of complete design data base)

The adoption of the Bluetooth low energy (Bluetooth LE) specifications v4.0/v4.2 standards is being driven by adoption in several markets such as the Health and Fitness devices, Beacons, Asset tracking, Home automation, PC Peripherals etc. Bluetooth low energy 5, together with the Bluetooth LE Mesh specifications are set to make Bluetooth the ‘Connectivity of Choice’ in IoT markets such as Connected Home, Commercial Lighting and Industrial Wireless Sensor Network markets.
Wireless audio (wireless earbuds, headphones and speakers) introduced us to a completely new level of listening convenience and freedom, prompting the rapid growth we are already seeing in this consumer segment (30% CAGR for wireless earbuds and 14% for wireless headphones). Now the race is on to further improve audio quality and capability in these devices.
