Smartphone Apps Processor Revenue Reached $4.7 Billion in Q1 2014 says Strategy Analytics
HiSilicon, Intel, MediaTek and NVIDIA registered fastest shipment growth
Boston, MA – July 14, 2014 - The global smartphone applications processor market registered an impressive 25 percent year-over-year growth to reach $4.7 billion in Q1 2014, according to Strategy Analytics Handset Component Technologies (HCT) service report, “Smartphone Apps Processor Market Share Q1 2014: Qualcomm, Apple and MediaTek Capture Over 80 Percent Revenue Share.”

Based on Strategy Analytics estimates, Qualcomm, Apple, MediaTek, Samsung and Spreadtrum grabbed the top-five smartphone applications processor spots in Q1 2014. Qualcomm continued its strong smartphone applications processor market lead with 53 percent revenue share, followed by Apple with 16 percent revenue share and MediaTek with 13 percent revenue share.
According to Sravan Kundojjala, Senior Analyst, “During Q1 2014, HiSilicon, Intel, MediaTek and NVIDIA registered triple-digit year-over-year shipment growth while Apple, Marvell, Qualcomm and Spreadtrum registered double-digit unit shipment growth. Strategy Analytics believes that the expanding smartphone market continues to provide opportunities for multiple applications processor vendors.”
