Nazomi Wins Appellate Reversal of Court Decision on Java Acceleration Patent
- Nazomi Communications, Inc., the inventor of universal and scalable solutions for boosting the performance of multimedia and Java applications, today announced that the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit on Monday reinstated its patent infringement lawsuit against ARM Holdings Plc, ARM Limited, and ARM, Inc. in which Nazomi claims that ARM's acceleration technology and products for Java platforms are infringing on Nazomi's United States patent #6,332,215. Today the Court of Appeals rejected and vacated lower court decisions on claim construction and non-infringement by Jazelle-enabled ARM microprocessor designs and remanded the case back to the lower court for further proceedings in accordance with its detailed instructions.
"Nazomi is confident, given the extensive guidance in today's Federal Circuit opinion, that the accused ARM microprocessor designs will be found to infringe claims of the Nazomi '215 patent. Nazomi looks forward to further proceedings and a trial on the merits," said Jay Kamdar, president and chief executive officer of Nazomi.
Mukesh Patel, chairman and CTO of Nazomi and an inventor of the patent-in-suit, said: "I am gratified by this decision of the Federal Circuit. We are confident of our patent position and I trust that the '215 patent will now be given the broad scope we believe it is entitled to receive."
