Mentor Graphics Optimizes the Mentor Embedded Inflexion UI for Use on ARM Mali GPUs
15 June 2011
WHAT:
Mentor Graphics and ARM have worked together to optimize the Mentor® Embedded Inflexion⢠UI product for the ARM® Mali⢠GPU, helping ensure that UIs created using Inflexion achieve fantastic performance on ARM Mali GPUs.
WHY:
As consumersâ expectations of their device user interface (UI) continue to increase, this creates continual demand on product manufacturers to deliver more sophisticated UIs with more UI effects. For example 3D, animations, advanced lighting and shader effects are expected to bring device screens to life, all without compromising on frame rate.
HOW:
The award winning Mentor Embedded Inflexion UI is used by embedded systems developers across the world to rapidly develop stunning UIs. From rich, sophisticated consumer UIs to specialized UIs in Industrial and Medical markets, Inflexion allows developers to quickly implement their UI using a drag and drop approach via the Inflexion UI Express PC tool. This reduces effort from man-months to man-days. The output of the tool runs on a runtime engine which harnesses the power of the Mali GPU within the end device.
Mentor and ARM have utilized ARMâs Performance Analysis Tools to ensure that UIs created with Inflexion are optimized for Mali and can offer end customers a visually stunning user experience.
ARM and Mentor continue their strong partnership in graphics and will be jointly presenting at the ARM Multimedia in the Home Seminar in Taipei on June 23, 2011. The joint ARM/Mentor training session will outline how to quickly and easily implement stunning 3D UIs on ARM Mali GPUs and will also demonstrate the use of the ARM toolset for developers using Mali technology.
The Mali GPU family scales to meet the requirements of a range of devices and screen sizes, from entry level smartphones through to scalable multi-core solutions for high frame-rate HD devices. Mali technology is widely adopted, currently having 39 licensees and ships in a growing range of consumer electronics devices. Together with its comprehensive ecosystem of Partners, ARM is uniquely positioned to offer IP and tools which address the complete range of graphics development activities - from System-on-Chip integration and software development through to content creation and optimization.
WHO:
ARM designs the technology that is at the heart of advanced digital products, from wireless, networking and consumer entertainment solutions to imaging, automotive, security and storage devices. ARMâs comprehensive product offering includes 32-bit RISC microprocessors, graphics processors, video engines, enabling software, cell libraries, embedded memories, high-speed connectivity products, peripherals and development tools.
