Global Semiconductor Sales Increase 9.2% Month-to-Month in May
Worldwide chip sales in May more than double compared to last year
WASHINGTON, July 6, 2026 — The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) today announced global semiconductor sales were $120.6 billion during the month of May 2026, an increase of 9.2% compared to the April 2026 total of $110.5 billion and 104.1% more than the May 2025 total of $59.1 billion. Monthly sales are compiled by the World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS) organization and represent a three-month moving average. SIA represents 99% of the U.S. semiconductor industry by revenue and nearly two-thirds of non-U.S. chip firms.
“The global semiconductor market continued to grow substantially in May, hitting the highest-ever recorded monthly sales total and increasing on a month-to-month basis for the 15th consecutive month in May,” said John Neuffer, SIA president and CEO. “Sales growth continues to be driven by strong year-to-year growth in the Americas, the Asia-Pacific region, and China.”
